It's time Utah's state leaders stopped their never-ending assault on same-sex couples and their families families.
When marriage equality was legal in Utah for 16 days, more than 1,300 same-sex couples legally wed. Last month, a federal judge ruled that Utah must respect those marriages. And just last week, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the freedom for all Utahns to marry the one they love.
Both rulings are stayed pending an appeal. Yet despite those two rulings, same-sex couples in Utah are still denied the critical protections and respect only marriage can provide, and Governor Herbert and Attorney General Reyes are doing everything they can to keep it that way.
Enough is enough. Utah's married gay and lesbian couples deserve to be treated for exactly what they are: married. Sign our petition urging Gov. Herbert and AG Reyes to stop standing in the way of rights and protections legally married same-sex couples need and deserve.
